Marble countertop
Marble is a nonfoliated metamorphic rock resulting from the metamorphism of limestone, composed mostly of calcite (a crystalline form of calcium carbonate, CaCO3). The word “marble” is colloquially used to refer to many other stones that are capable of taking a high polish.
Quartz countertop
Quartz is an engineered countertop product produced from up to 93% pure natural quartz aggregates which are adhered with polymer resin and color powder. This manufacturing process creates unique pattern styles that are both different from natural stone and mimic the look of some natural stone styles like marble, granite, or limestone. Because the quartz is non-porous, it does not require sealants, low maintenance.
